Kettering Cycle-Re-Cycle

Through our Brightwayz Cycle-Re-Cycle project we organise donations of unwanted bikes to loan out or to give to those identified by our collaborative partners as being in need.

We ensure the bikes are suitable, checked and repaired if needed. They are then fitted out with panniers and/or baskets so they can be used for practical journeys such as going to the shops. A good quality lock is also provided along with a repair kit, cycle seat cover and other useful accessories. The cycles are then used for community projects - to loan out or to donate to those in need.

The project is in its early stages and we are keen to develop it further.

We also work in collaboration with HMP Five Wells Prison in Wellingborough and thieir cycle workshop where inmates learn how to repair bikes.

The scheme aims to ensure access for all to cycling in the local area as well as the environmental benefits of repairing and reusing cycles locally.

How can you help?

If you would like to donate a pre-loved cycle to our project and are able to bring it to our Active Travel Hub when we are open on the last Saturday of the month we would be grateful to receive it. We also appreciate any good condition but unwanted cycle accessories such as panniers and baskets. We regret that currently we do not have the resources to collect cycle donations and much appreciate them being brought to us at the Hub.
